Is this instrument worth it?

Recently, while I was perusing the local flea market, I came across an old metal clarinet. I could tell that the body was gold plated, with the keys most likely being sold silver (could be plated though) it looked very nice and there was little ware for how old it was. They were asking $149 on it. Is this a reasonable price and is it even worth buying it. I have heard from some that metal clarinets are crap and its no use to buy one, then I have also heard that they are really wonderful instruments. Please give me some advise
